Project: Online India cultural awareness training for a financial services client
Background:
One of the Big Four global management, consulting and technology services companies had a financial services client with whom they contracted to get business process outsourcing done with the help of personnel at delivery centers in India. The financial services client was new to offshore outsourcing and working with India, and requested some web-based cultural awareness training on India for their geographically dispersed U.S. staff.
Assignment:
Provide a self-paced online training program that would provide basic knowledge and cross-cultural awareness of India for employees who would interact with counterparts in India.
Intervention:
CMCT made available to the consulting company a license to use its “Cultural Awareness India Online” program for all the team members in the client group, offering it through the auspices of the consulting company. The consulting company was made a license administrator and was therefore able to track usage through CMCT’s learning management system.
Result:
Reactions to the program were positive. Users found it informative and easy to navigate. It demystified for the work and communication styles of their counterparts. The program is being considered for further extension to other similar clients.
